I have been at Holkham for most of today, Shore Lark are generally quite confiding if you are careful with your approach to them, as with all ground feeding birds that are found in areas of short vegetation the trick is to keep low, rather than standing up. With these birds I spent a while watching them and then moved into a position away from them, but ahead of the direction they were moving in whilst feeding and with the light behind me, it was just a case of sitting and waiting, ten minutes later I had about 40 birds within about 20 feet, totally unconcerned by my presence they continued feeding whilst I blazed away with my camera. As usual these were taken with Canon D60 and Canon 600mm f4 IS lens, drab clothing is a must, for this I used 'Realtree' camouflage.
